The black square is caused by the background of the hair texture not being entirely transparent. This is an oversight on the mod's end. You can easily fix it by editing out the background of the bugged hair or beard.

The workaround is to activate dev mode, then make the colonist use the styling station. There is a check box on the styling station pop up to reveal all available styles. It includes the beard tab for females, so you can delete the beard.... Or select a different one to suit your tastes.
