I have had a bad coolant level sensor stop my engine before, back when I first started seeing symptoms of a cracked head. Oil and fuel were mixing into the coolant and the coolant level dropped. The coolant level sensor failed, and the truck would not stay running. No overheats, it simply shut down with coolant level errors.
