Duramax ticking noise

Engine ticking on new 2024 sierra hd duramax. Picked this truck up Monday. About 180 miles so far and noticed this ticking coming from the engine. I’ve never owned a diesel truck so not sure if this is normal… but I didn’t notice it the first few days… any ideas? That’s the “type writer tick”. They all do it.

I have an 01 duramax that I recently replaced headgaskets in. Shortly after the headgasket job a ticking noise appeared. I think it sounds like a lifter ticking. Possibly a lifter loosened up a little after it has been running. A friend of mine disagrees. He says it is injectors ticking because they are bad. The Silverado book says it was filled with "Dexos" but the LGH and LML Duramax Diesel supplement book says to use API CJ-4 oil. There are no stickers under the hood near the dipstick/oil fill to indicate either.I'm a diesel owner as well and have this ticking noise - constant, steady ticking when traveling at low speeds. I notice it when I'm at the coffee drive thru and I can hear it quite well as it bounces off the adjacent wall. I have service scheduled tomorrow and plan to have it addressed. I had this happen when I had my 2003, I thought it was my brake box, but I found out that if you have the climate control set to blow out the vents, which is all the way counter clockwise, it is like it is trying to move the door under the dash too far and I would get a clicking sound.

If I´m flooring it it goes away and it goes away as soon as I let of the pedal.. It is not the typical ticking noise. It is a thumping noise and it is supposedly caused by the fanbelt. On the 2020 there are two belts now and the fan is by itself. No its not hurting it. You can try & find another oil brand thatll maybe reduce the tick noise, or you just live with it. I use Rotella T in my LMM & Mobil Delvac Super in the LML.
